Dedicated fans of defunct sports leagues -- the USFL, NASL, XFL, ABA, AFL and WFL, etc. -- keep them alive through their tribute websites
They're all gone now, the leagues with funky balls, funky rules and funkier personalities. But those defunct sports experiments such as the XFL, USFL, WFL, NASL, ABA and AFL are being kept alive with rich, interesting websites carefully tended by dedicated and nostalgic fans. My story for ESPN.com's Playbook section: http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/fandom/post/_/id/15172/fans-keep-old-leagues-alive-on-the-web
