Powerlifter Ahmed Shafik has taken a long, rocky road from Iraq, to the United States and on to the Paralympics
Ahmed Shafik, born with polio, competed for the Iraqi national Paralympic team. But when he was beaten and jailed after he and his team didn't perform up to the expectations of Iraqi officials in 1998, he fled to the U.S., where he finished college and joined the Army. Now he'll compete as a powerlifter at the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. http://www.teamusa.org/US-Paralympics/Features/2016/July/29/Ahmed-Shafiks-Remarkable-Journey-Continues-into-Rio
