Former college athlete and Army veteran Christy Gardner, disabled by injury while serving, found path to new life through sled hockey

Christy Gardner was an energetic multi-sport college athlete before joining the Army. When she received devastating injuries as the result of an undisclosed mission she was on, her future seemed bleak. She couldn't use her legs and had constant seizures. But through the discovery of sled hockey and a wonderful aid dog, Gardner is living an independent life and is a member of the U.S. sled hockey team. My story on her for ESPNW: http://espn.go.com/espnw/athletes-life/article/14624166/sport-saved-christy-gardner-life
