Book review: "Surviving Survival" tells the tales of people who were changed forever by their brushes with death

After people have survived a tragic, horrific moment in their lives, then what happens? In "Surviving Survival," author Laurence Gonzales examines their lives from an anecdotal and scientific viewpoint, showing us how they face many battles, long after they've surviving a shark or bear attack, an attempted murder, cancer or the traumatic loss of a loved one. As Gonzales points out, our brains adapt and actually change in response to a threat, so personalities actually change after one of these incidents. My review of the book for U-T San Diego: http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/sep/16/tp-changed-for-life/?print&page=all
